What is Euflexxa?
Euflexxa is an injectable made of sodium hyaluronate or hyaluronic acid (HA), which is indicated for the treatment of pain associated with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Patients who have failed to experience adequate relief from simple pain relievers and non-pharmacologic therapy are good candidates for this treatment. The safety profile of Euflexxa has been established for up to 1 year.
How this injection works
Viscosupplementation of synovial joints with osteoarthritis has been found to have significant potential benefits. In the United States, intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid is only approved for knee arthritis, but in other parts of the world, it is approved for other types of painful joint arthritis.
Euflexxa can relieve joint pain by lubricating the joints, allowing greater mobility and flexibility, thereby reducing pain in the affected joint.
Each syringe of Euflexxa injectable is made of 20mg sodium hyaluronate, 17mg sodium chlori ...
Connective tissues, such as fats, tendons, blood, and cartilage, are important structures of the body that provide support and allows movement of other tissue types. There are 2 main components of connective tissues: collagen and elastin. Belonging to a group of structural proteins, both collagen and elastin are important molecules of the dermis.
Similarities and differences between elastin vs collagen
Both are produced by the fibroblast cells.
Both are important in providing stength and flexibility to tissues.
Both are degraded or produced less as the person ages.
Decreased production of these proteins lead to wrinkles.
Both are essential components of the extracellular matrix.
Both hinder the diffusion of macromolecules in the dermis.
The 2 proteins bind with hyaluronic acid (HA) covalently and make up a 3-dimensional structure that is impaired in the ageing skin.
Structural proteins are considered the backbone of tissues. These components must be fo ...
What is Belotero Balance?
Belotero Balance is a cosmetic filler containing hyaluronic acid as an active ingredient. The highly purified, non-pyrogenic, cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) comes in a colourless, viscoelastic solution with physiological phosphate buffer. This dermal filler is indicated for filling lines and wrinkles, increasing skin tissue volume, and improving overall skin texture.
How does this dermal filler work?
Manufactured using the innovative Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM), Belotero Balance is specially formulated with monophasic hyaluronic acid with excellent elasticity. It works by replacing the depleted hyaluronic acid in the skin. The ability of HA to attract large amount of water molecules provides intense hydration and adequate plumping effect to fill lines, furrows, and creases. Positive results from this cosmetic procedure may last up to 6 months.
The safety of this medication has not been demonstrated in patients below the age ...
