What is Desirial?

Desirial is a range of hyaluronic acid-based fillers that is formulated by Vivacy Laboratories for the preservation and rejuvenation of the vulva. The injectable gel is made of cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel integrated with mannitol. The sodium hyaluronate molecules are extracted biotechnologically from fermenting bacterial cultures before being purified and reticulated using InterPenetrated Cross-Linked Networks (IPN)-like Technology. This proprietary technology interlinks antioxidant mannitol within and between the sodium hyaluronate molecules; hence, the need for chemical reticulating agent is greatly reduced.

This moisturising filler comes in 2 strengths:

  1. Desirial: This filler is composed of 19mg/mL of cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel integrated with mannitol. Each box of Desirial comes with 2-1ml prefilled syringes, 2-27G½” single-use needles, 2-30G½” single-use needles, and package insert.
  2. Desirial Plus: This filler is composed of 21mg/mL of cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel integrated with mannitol. Each box of Desirial comes with 2-1ml prefilled syringes, 2-27G½” single-use needles, 1-18G single-use canula, and package insert.

What is Desirial used for?

Desirial range is specifically formulated for non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedures to improve the functionality and aesthetic aspects of the vagina. A healthy vagina self-regulates its pH level by secreting essential lubricating discharge. Unfortunately, it is affected by various factors like ageing, health conditions, and hormone levels. The most prominent changes occur during menopause. Most patients experience drying and thinning of the vaginal tissues due to the declining levels of the oestrogen hormone. As a result, patients are more prone to vaginal injuries and infections. Desirial is exceptionally ideal for combating these issues thanks to the ingredients present. While sodium hyaluronate helps to deeply moisturise the vaginal tissues, the antioxidant mannitol fights free radicals to reduce post-injection gel degradation. Following implantation, patients get to enjoy the desirable outcomes of vaginal rejuvenation for about 6 months or more, depending on their health status, age, and lifestyle habits.

Side effects

Most often than not, patients will experience temporary injection site reactions like swelling, redness, itching, and mild pain. These inflammatory reactions should subside on their own within a couple of days. On the other hand, some patients may even develop adverse aftereffects such as slight bleeding, blood clots, hardening of injected areas, and difficulty urinating. Should these reactions persist for more than a week, patients should seek prompt medical intervention. Read the package insert thoroughly for detailed information on all possible side effects.
