What is Restylane Lyft made of?
When you buy Restylane Lyft, formerly known as Perlane-L, is an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid (HA). The HA in Restylane Lyft is of non-animal origin and is created using patented NASHA Technology. This technology creates larger HA molecules than many other dermal fillers, including other Restylane products, leading to a firmer gel that is great for providing a lifting effect in areas of the skin that required added volume. NASHA Technology is also able to create hyaluronic acid that maintains the natural molecular structure of the substance, as it imitates the manner in which HA molecules naturally connect with one another. The hyaluronic acid is then further chemically cross-linked with BDDE in order to make the gel longer lasting. Restylane Lyft appears as a clear gel, and does not require allergy testing as it is of non-animal origin. It also contains lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment experience.
What can Restylane Lyft do?
Restylane Lyft has been approved for non-surgical injection into a number of areas. It is a filler designed to correct volume loss and treat the appearance of wrinkles and is particularly effective in adding fullness to the mid-face area, including correcting pronounced facial folds and wrinkles and restoring volume to the cheeks. Restylane Lyft also effectively smoothes moderate to severe nasolabial folds and adds volume to the delicate skin in the back of the hands. When treating facial folds and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, Restylane Lyft should be injected into the deep dermis to superficial subcutis, while it should be implanted into the subcutaneous to supraperiosteal of the cheek for augmentation, and the subcutaneous plane in the back of the hands.
Side effects of Restylane Lyft
There are some minor side effects associated with injection of Restylane Lyft, though the majority of reactions are mild and temporary. More serious side effects can be avoided by using proper injection techniques.
Common side effects include:
- Pain at injection site;
- Redness;
- Swelling;
- Tenderness;
- Itchiness;
- Bruising.
These common reactions should resolve themselves within a few days without intervention. There are some more serious, less common side effects that may arise as well, including pigmentation changes, severe swelling, and infection. Patients should contact a medical professional if experiencing any of these rare symptoms. Patients who have a history of bleeding disorders, inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema or acne may not be suitable for treatment with Restylane Lyft. Additionally, patients who have an allergy to lidocaine of hyaluronic acid should not be treated with Restylane Lyft.
