What is Synvisc?
Synvisc is a viscosupplement injectable that is used as treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee. It also goes by the generic name hylan G-F 20 and contains hylan A and hylan B polymers. It helps ease pain and improve mobility in the joints by replacing lost synovial fluid, returning lubrication and cushion to the pained joints. One 2ml dose of Synvisc contains 16mg of hylan polymers. The solution also contains sodium chloride, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, and water.
