BOTOX® 100u is a botulinum toxin type A injection used for both therapeutic and aesthetic treatments. It temporarily blocks nerve signals to muscles, reducing contractions and improving the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. It is also used for medical conditions like chronic migraine, excessive sweating, muscle spasticity, and overactive bladder. The product comes in a vacuum-dried powder form that must be reconstituted before injection.

Indications:

• Medical Use:
  • Chronic migraine – 155 Units every 12 weeks.
  • Spasticity and dystonia – individualized doses depending on severity.
  • Overactive bladder – 100 Units per treatment session.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin or any components of the formulation.
• Active infection at the injection site.
• Patients with neuromuscular disorders like myasthenia gravis​.

Side Effects:

• Common: Headache (9%), injection site pain, and mild eyelid ptosis (3%).
• Rare but Serious: Breathing difficulties, dysphagia, and cardiovascular events, particularly in patients with underlying conditions​.

BOTOX® 100u must be reconstituted with sterile, preservative-free 0.9% sodium chloride injection before administration. The injection technique varies based on the treatment area.

Administration Guidelines:

• Glabellar lines: 0.1 mL (4 Units) per site, total 20 Units.
• Lateral canthal lines: 0.1 mL (4 Units) per side, total 24 Units.
• Forehead lines: 0.1 mL (4 Units) into 5 sites, total 40 Units.
• Maximum cumulative dose should not exceed 400 Units in 3 months​.

Storage Recommendations:

• Unopened vials: Store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
• After reconstitution: Store at 2°C to 8°C and use within 24 hours.
• Do not freeze the reconstituted solution. Unused portions should be discarded
