Yvoire Volume Plus is a cross-linked, hyaluronic acid-based injectable gel that is formulated by a world-famous Korean pharmaceutical company, LG Chem Life Sciences. This biodegradable and viscoelastic dermal filler is composed of completely synthetic hyaluronic acid molecules that are extracted and purified from a bacterial fermentation process. The molecules are then cross-linked to form a highly volumising soft tissue implant. This formula also contains 0.3% lidocaine, a fast-acting local anesthetic that helps alleviate pain during treatment.

Each box of Yvoire Volume Plus comes with 1-1ml syringe preloaded with hyaluronic acid gel, 2 sterilised and single-use 27G needles, and a package insert. This medical device is fragile and must be stored away from light, in a hermetic container with a controlled temperature between 2°C and 25°C.

What is it used for?

Yvoire Volume Plus is specifically designed to plump and reduce deep-set facial wrinkles, such as the nasolabial folds. However, due to its effective, ultra-volumising formula, patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infections who display signs of facial lipoatrophy (e.g. sunken cheeks and temples) will benefit greatly from this tissue-friendly hyaluronic acid implant. Additionally, patients may use this treatment to non-surgically enhance their lips.

How does it work?

Within the skin, hyaluronic acid delivers moisture and volume to the cells, helping to keep it healthy, plump, and youthful-looking. Unfortunately, internal and external factors lead to the inevitable deterioration of this natural hyaluronic acid, causing the skin to become wrinkled, damaged, and weak.

Luckily, by replacing this lost hyaluronic acid, Yvoire Volume Plus rehydrates, firms, and volumises the skin. With this, skin looks younger and healthier, reinvigorating the patient’s appearance—and their self-esteem.

How to inject Yvoire Volume Plus

Please follow the usual protocol for dermal filler injection procedures when administering Yvoire Volume Plus. First, thoroughly examine your patients’ medical history. This will allow you to ascertain that they are indeed the ideal candidates to receive this treatment. Besides that, a complete aesthetic assessment will also help you to determine achievable cosmetic goals for your patients. At this time, educate your patients about the possible secondary side effects that they may experience after treatment, and obtain informed consent.

Next, start the procedure by cleaning and sanitising the proposed treatment areas. Since this soft tissue implant contains lidocaine, you need not to apply any anesthetic cream—unless it is absolutely necessary. Prepare the medical device by securing 1 of the provided sterilised needles to the syringe. Then, inject the soft tissue gel via deep dermis and/or subcutaneous injections. The depth and injection technique to be followed will vary, depending on the regions to be treated.

After injection, massage the treated areas gently to ensure uniform distribution of the filler material. Since this filler is only intended for a single use, any leftover gel and used syringes must be discarded responsibly in appropriate biological waste bins to prevent cross-contamination.

How long does it last?

The duration of effects for this filler may vary on an individual basis, depending on the patient’s age, skin condition, health status, and lifestyle habits. However, this treatment generally lasts for up to 1 year following the initial injection. If patients are happy with their results, they may receive top-up injections after this period. Alternatively, if they are unhappy with their results, they may dissolve the injected filler using hyaluronidase.

Is it safe?

Yvoire Volume Plus is made of hyaluronic acid molecules that have been highly purified. With this, they are unlikely to cause immunogenic reactions. That being said, the usage of this aesthetic implant is contraindicated in the following patients due, to an unestablished safety profile:

  • Patients who are pregnant
  • Patients who are nursing their children;
  • Patients who are allergic to gram-positive bacteria;
  • Patients who are allergic to hyaluronic acid;
  • Patients who are diagnosed with autoimmune disorders;
  • And patients who are suffering from skin infections and/or inflammation at proposed treatment areas.

Please read the package insert for detailed information on precautions and warnings.
