ZO® RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER 1%

It is a colour correcting and brightening skin cream for both the face and body. It is indicated for use in patients with hyperpigmentation caused by the ageing process and environmental damage.

Unlike other brightening products, ZO RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER is free of hydroquinone, a highly controversial beauty ingredient. Rather, this cream is comprised of high-potency retinol, ascorbic acid 2-glucoside, vitamins C and E, isoflavinoids, glucosamine, glutathione and other herbal extracts. Altogether, this unique formulation works to block and regulate melanin formation, while also providing antioxidant properties and offering protection from future damage.

ZO RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER is available in 3 different concentrations: 1.0 % retinol, 0.25 % retinol, and 0.5 % retinol. It is supplied in a 75mL pump bottle, which should be stored away from direct sunlight and between 15 and 30°C.

ZO RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER is indicated for individuals with age- or environment-related hyperpigmentation. It may be used as an initial treatment for hyperpigmentation, or as a follow-up to other prescription brightening treatments.

ZO RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER contains both ascorbic acid 2-glucoside and high-potency retinol. When combined, these ingredients work to break up existing hyperpigmentation, exfoliate the skin, and increase cell turnover, rapidly creating a more even skin tone.

Additionally, this cream contains Stachys officinalis, an herbal extract known for its soothing properties. This powerful component also blocks messengers within the skin that may trigger melanogenesis, reducing melanin production in order to limit dark spots.

It also contains Vitamins C and E, which provide the formula’s antioxidant properties. With this, they help to protect the patient’s skin from free radicals, which are known to cause skin damage. This brightening cream also contains soy isoflavones, n-acetyl glucosamine, and glutathione, which work to prevent the formation of uneven pigmentation and new age spots.

When beginning treatment with ZO RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER, patients should apply the cream every other day, gradually increasing the frequency of use as their skin becomes more tolerant. Any initial dryness or irritation is normal, and often develops 2–3 days after the first application of this product.

To use this cream, patients should dispense 1 or 2 pumps onto their fingertips before gently massaging it into the face and other affected areas. If a less aggressive treatment is needed, patients may mix ZO RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER with equal parts of ZO Restoracalm or ZO Ommerse® Renewal Crème and apply once per week.

While ZO RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER is a safe and generally well-tolerated treatment, certain individuals should avoid the application of this product. Most notably, individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use ZO RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER. Additionally, individuals with any known allergies or hypersensitivities to its ingredients should not be prescribed this treatment.

Please note that ZO RETINOL SKIN BRIGHTENER is indicated for external use only. Any contact with the eyes should be avoided, and the area should be thoroughly rinsed should any application occur. This cream may also increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun, so patients should use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while undergoing this treatment.

If a persistent rash or irritation is developed, patients should temporarily halt their use of the cream until these effects subside. Then, they may gradually increase their use of the product as their skin develops tolerance.

Minor side effects are common when using this product. Usually, these will appear 2–3 days after the initial application of this product, and should subside after continued use.
