WHAT IS STYLAGE?
Stylage is a range of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers created by Vivacy Laboratories, a renowned French pharmaceutical company. This collection is manufactured using patented IPN-Like Technology, which uses an advanced hyaluronic acid cross-linking process to create a highly viscoelastic gel. This line has also incorporated mannitol and sorbitol in the fillers to maintain skin health. Many products are also available with 0.3% of lidocaine, a fast-acting anaesthetic agent. The fillers are categorised into 4 different classes, according to their functions:
-
- Skin hydration and biorevitalisation
- Stylage Hydro: 14mg/g of non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid with mannitol, Each box comes with 1 prefilled 1mL syringe, sterile needles, patient record labels, and a package insert.
- Stylage HydroMax: 12.5mg/g of cross-linked hyaluronic acid with sorbitol. Each box comes with 1 prefilled 1mL syringe, sterile needles, patient record labels, and a package insert.
- Lip correction and enhancement
- Stylage Special Lips: 18.5mg/g of cross-linked hyaluronic acid with mannitol. Each box comes with 1 prefilled 1mL syringe, 2-30G needles, patient record labels, and a package insert. This filler is also available with 0.3% of lidocaine.

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?
From simple hydrating treatments to restoring volume in sunken areas, the Stylage collection includes products that can treat a wide range of skin concerns. These fillers are categorised based on the functions as described below:
- Skin hydration and biorevitalisation
These aesthetic treatments help to rejuvenate skin affected by the appearance of early signs of ageing, such as dehydration and dullness. Stylage Hydro and HydroMax contain hyaluronic acid, which helps to rejuvenate dehydrated skin in areas like the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.
- Lip correction and enhancement
The shape and size of an individual’s lips are often dependent on unchangeable factors like ethnicity and genetics, and can fluctuate with age and lifestyle. Sometimes, repeated facial expressions can cause fine creases to develop around the lips. Stylage Special Lips is designed to plump up and add definition to thin and undefined lips, as well as to diminish fine lines around the lips.
- Filling and smoothing wrinkles
Ageing brings about loss of skin elasticity and the development of fine lines. If these lines are left untreated, they can worsen and become even more noticeable. Injecting an aesthetic filler helps to fill and lift these lines for a smooth, youthful appearance. Stylage S works wonders on superficial wrinkles like crow’s feet, glabellar frown lines, and perioral lines. Stylage M and L are ideal for correcting deeper wrinkles, like pronounced nasolabial folds and marionette lines.
- Facial remodeling and volume restoration
Some patients may experience unintended weight loss as part of the usual ageing process, leading to the thinning of facial fat pads. This drastic loss of facial volume may also be caused by diseases like Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which may cause abnormal facial fat redistribution. These fillers help to correct a gaunt appearance in the face by replacing volume.
HOW DOES THIS DERMAL FILLER WORK?
Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers are commonly used in the skincare and cosmetic industries due to the effectiveness and safety of the material. Hyaluronic acid actually exists naturally in the body, providing hydration to cells and tissues. As the body ages, the natural stores of hyaluronic acid deplete, and synthetic fillers offer a great solution to replace this loss. Stylage fillers are made of hyaluronic acid that is derived from a process of biofermentation. The molecules are then processed using IPN-Like Technology, which is an advanced cross-linking process that produces high-quality hyaluronic acid with viscoelastic properties, requiring less of the cross-linking agent BDDE. These fillers also feature the antioxidants mannitol or sorbitol, which scavenge free radicals circulating in the skin. This allows the gel to withstand degradation for a longer period of time, and helps curtail post-injection reactions like swelling. Overall, skin imperfections are corrected seamlessly with natural-looking and long-lasting effects.
HOW TO INJECT IT?
Just like any other medical procedure, Stylage injections should only be performed on patients after undergoing a thorough review of his or her medical history. In addition, inform the patient of the expected results, side effects, and post-injection precautions. Drugs and supplements that increase risk of bleeding (e.g. NSAIDs, warfarin, and fish oil) should not be taken for a few days prior to the procedure. On the day of treatment, disinfect the proposed area of treatment and assemble the medical device by attaching a suitably-sized needle. The depth of injection depends on the degree of correction and filler used.
- Stylage Hydro: Inject into the superficial dermis of the skin.
- Stylage HydroMax: Inject into the superficial dermis via a nappage technique or deep dermis via a point by point technique.
- Stylage Special Lips: Inject into or around the labial mucosa.
- Stylage S: Inject into the superficial to mid-dermis of the skin.
- Stylage M: Inject into the mid to deep dermis of the skin.
- Stylage L: Inject into the deep dermis of the skin.
- Stylage XL: Inject into the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer of the skin.
- Stylage XXL: Inject into the subcutaneous layer of the skin.
Please note that this medical procedure should be conducted with strict adherence to aseptic guidelines to prevent harmful infections. Most importantly, only legally certified and well-experienced medical professionals should perform this treatment.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The duration of results depends on the patient’s skin condition, lifestyle, age, treatment type, and the area treated. Fillers used for skin hydration and biorevitalisation can typically last for about 2 to 4 months, while fillers intended for lip augmentation can last for about 6 to 9 months. The other soft tissue fillers can last between 9 to 12 months or more. These temporary fillers are all biodegradable and will disintegrate into the surrounding tissues.
IS THIS PRODUCT SAFE?
The hyaluronic acid molecules are synthetised from a strictly regulated biofermentation process and are then purified to have superior medical-grade quality. Despite its high safety profile, these fillers are contraindicated for some people, including:
- Patients who are allergic to any of the ingredients (e.g. hyaluronic acid, lidocaine, mannitol, sorbitol);
- Patients who are suffering from autoimmune diseases;
- Patients who are predisposed to developing hypertrophic scarring or keloids;
- Patients who are suffering from active skin inflammations/infections (e.g. acne, herpes) on targeted treatment area;
