Polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) is a type of purely synthetic polymer derived from acrylic and sold under the trade name of Perspex or Plexiglas. Also known as acrylic or acrylic glass, this polymer is extensively used in industrial applications (e.g. roofing, windows) due to its high resistance to extreme temperature fluctuations. What are the benefits of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) injectable fillers?

What are the side effects of PMMA injectable fillers?

These side effects occur as the skin is repairing itself from minor trauma that is a series of minimally invasive injections. Though PMMA material itself is non-toxic, other active components contained within the implant can prove to be potentially harmful allergens and induce allergic reactions. Hence, only skilled and experienced specialists should attempt to administer PMMA injectable fillers. As well, due to its semi-permanent nature, it may need to be surgically removed if any undesirable effects are observed.
