DEPO-PROVERA® is a long-acting injectable contraceptive containing medroxyprogesterone acetate, a synthetic form of progesterone. Ingredients:

Indications:

• Contraception:
  • 150 mg intramuscular injection every 3 months.
  • First injection should be administered within 5 days of the menstrual cycle start.

• Endometriosis:
  • 50 mg weekly or 100 mg every two weeks.
  • Treatment typically lasts at least 6 months.
• Cancer Treatment:
  • Breast cancer: 500 mg daily for 4 weeks, then 500–1000 mg weekly.
  • Other hormone-sensitive cancers (kidney, endometrial): 600–1200 mg per week, followed by 450–600 mg every 1–4 weeks​.

Contraindications:

• History of stroke, blood clots, or severe liver disease.
• Unexplained vaginal bleeding or undiagnosed breast lumps.
• Pregnancy or intention to conceive​.
