What is Belotero Balance Dermal Filler and What are Its Side Effects?

Published on: Apr 20, 2018

What is Belotero Balance?

Belotero Balance is a cosmetic filler containing hyaluronic acid as an active ingredient. The highly purified, non-pyrogenic, cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) comes in a colourless, viscoelastic solution with physiological phosphate buffer. This dermal filler is indicated for filling lines and wrinkles, increasing skin tissue volume, and improving overall skin texture.

How does this dermal filler work?

Manufactured using the innovative Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM), Belotero Balance is specially formulated with monophasic hyaluronic acid with excellent elasticity. When you buy Belotero, it works by replacing the depleted hyaluronic acid in the skin. The ability of HA to attract large amount of water molecules provides intense hydration and adequate plumping effect to fill lines, furrows, and creases. Positive results from this cosmetic procedure may last up to 6 months.

Contraindications

The safety of this medication has not been demonstrated in patients below the age of 18. It is also not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Do not administer the filler on patients with known history of hypersensitivity to any components of the gel filler. This should not be administered on patients with active or inflamed skin lesions.

Areas Treated

Belotero Balance is ideal for moderate to severe lines and wrinkles. A variant containing lidocaine is also available to reduce your patient’s discomfort. The unique formulation of this filler facilitates seamless skin integration and it’s also gentle enough to be used in delicate areas of the face.

Other studies comparing HA-based fillers found that Belotero Balance, Juvederm, and Restylane all yield generally favourable results. Side effects were mild to moderate and are mostly site-specific. No serious adverse events were documented from a 5-year retrospective safety review of 317 patients.
