What is Radiesse dermal filler?
Radiesse is a collection of aesthetic implants designed and manufactured by Merz Aesthetics. The fillers are made of 70% artificial calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres of only 25 to 45 microns in size suspended in a gel carrier. This aqueous gel carrier solution is composed of carboxymethylcellulose, glycerin, and high purity water. There is a total of 4 different variations of Radiesse fillers.
- Radiesse® 0.8mL
- Radiesse® 1.5mL
- Radiesse® (+) 0.8mL with Lidocaine
- Radiesse® (+) 1.5mL with Lidocaine
All the fillers above share the same gel formulation but different packaging volume. Patients who are hypersensitive to the anaesthetic lidocaine can opt for the ones without lidocaine. The fillers are famed for their durable performance which can last up to a year or more. At Maylips a large contingent of medical professionals choose to buy Radiesse online for the price savings and professional service.
What is it used for?
The calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres are calcium and phosphate ions bonded together. This substance functions as a collagen stimulator once injected into areas of concern. The microspheres promote new collagen synthesis gradually. Over time, calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres disintegrate into the surrounding tissues, but newly-formed collagen fibres maintain skin elasticity and firmness even after the gel is resorbed. Wrinkles and sunken areas are corrected for a youthful appearance for extended period of time. Some areas that respond exceptionally well to Radiesse fillers include aged hands, sunken facial structures, and pronounced facial creases. These fillers also work well in augmenting facial contours and features for a well-defined face.
How to inject this filler?
The procedure is carried out similarly to other soft tissue fillers. First, you must review patients’ medical history and aesthetic assessment to ensure suitability. Sanitize the proposed treatment areas and assess patients’ need for pain reliever. Assemble the medical device following the instruction on package insert. You may then administer the filler via deep dermal or subdermal injections. Kindly note that too superficial of an injection may cause nodules or hardening. Discard leftover gel and used needles responsibly. The entire procedure must be done aseptically.
Radiesse side effects
Since the implantation of the dermal fillers involves minimally-invasive injections, patients may then exhibit inflammatory reactions.
Some common reactions include:
- itching at the injection site.
These side effects are the body’s immune response to injections and should subside within a week. On the contrary, patients may also experience serious effects such as permanent scars and abnormal pain during or immediately after procedure. Patients must receive quick medical treatment if any of the symptoms exacerbate. Please refer to accompanying package insert for detailed list of possible side effects.
