What is Restylane 1 mL?

Restylane is a transparent and sterile gel, which contains stabilized hyaluronic acid of non – animal origin, produced using a natural fermentation process, manufactured by Q - Med. It is supplied in a glass syringe with a luer – lock fitting, and it is intended to be used for facial augmentation.

Restylane clear gel is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid. It helps to visibly moderate severe facial folds and wrinkles, including the lines that run from your nose toward the corners of your mouth, and the lines that run from the corners of your mouth toward the chin.

Additionally, this product is FDA approved for lip enhancement in patients that are over 21, and is uniquely formulated to give your lips fullness.

What is it used for?

With the process of ageing, the body starts to lose its ability to continually produce hyaluronic acid, which leads to facial wrinkles and lines.

Restylane dermal filler, which is based on hyaluronic acid, is used to reduce moderate facial wrinkles and lines, such as the lines from the nose to the mouth, and the lines from the nose to the chin. It can also be used to treat smile lines, and marionette lines that are found in the corner of the mouth.

This product is especially popular choice for enhancing lip volume, making them fuller and beautiful.

How does it work?

Having sufficient level of hyaluronic acid is one of many factors that ensure our skin is healthy and radiant. HA (hyaluronic acid) plays a vital role in keeping the skin healthy and hydrated. As the skin ages the hyaluronic acid levels start to reduce, therefore it starts to lose its firmness and tone, which leads to wrinkles and sagging skin.

This amazing product boosts the skin’s hydration system, stimulates the production of collagen and delays the signs of ageing by restoring volume. It works by increasing the amount of hyaluronic acid in the body, as well as stimulating and increase of collagen production. Collagen is vital in ensuring the skin is firm, healthy and youthful looking.
Restylane aims to add fullness to the facial skin by absorbing large amounts of water as it disintegrates. This gives the sunken areas of the facial skin a new fullness for 6+ months.

The most common areas treated with this amazing product are:

  • Lips
  • Laugh Lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Sad Mouth Corners
  • Frown Lines ( forehead)
  • Marionette Lines
  • Chin
  • Tear Troughs (under the eyes)

The product can also be used to restore youthful elasticity and vitality of the skin in areas such as upper torso and the hands.

How to inject this gel?

You have to carefully choose your doctor, which has to be trained and licensed, in order to properly inject Restylane.

Most often this procedure is performed with local anesthesia, especially if the lip is being treated, to avoid pain and discomfort from the needle during the injection. This treatment can take up to 30 minutes, depending on how many areas of the body are being treated.
As previously mentioned, Restylane is based on hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally component already found in the body. The water, which is contained in the acid, helps to keep the volume underneath the skin, in order to preserve the renewed volume, and give you a youthful and wrinkle free look.

Results are fully visible within one week. The product has a success rate for eliminating or reducing deep wrinkles that cannot be accomplished with other procedures, like microdermabrasion or chemical peels.

How long does this dermal filler last?

There are many factors that affect the product’s longevity, which include the injection site (effects will be less lasting if the filler is injected into an area with lots of muscle movement), skill level of the doctor (incorrect procedure can have severe permanent damage), skin type, lifestyle, age and the body’s metabolic rate (patients with fast metabolism should not expect results to last more than 6 months).

Everyone’s body is different, and there is no concrete answer to how long the effects will last. In the average this treatment lasts between 6 and 9 months and with lip treatments is from 3 to 6 months.

Is it safe?

Restylane is among the safest dermal fillers available, as it is manufactured from non – animal based hyaluronic acid, and it is FDA tested and approved. As previously mentioned, hyaluronic acid is a totally natural substance, which already exists in the human body, and it provides the skin with volume and fullness.

The hyaluronic acid utilized within this product is formed from a substance called NASHA (non – animal stabilized hyaluronic acid), which is biocompatible with the hyaluronic acid already in the body.
