WHAT IS SILHOUETTE SOFT?
These fully biocompatible surgical sutures are made using poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and are designed as a non-surgical facelift. This medical device is manufactured by Sinclair Pharma and consists of PLLA thread and lactide glycolide cones that are attached to 12cm needles. You can order 8 cones, 12 cones, or 16 cones of these thread lifts.
Each box contains 5 packs of 2 units. This cosmetic thread should be stored in cool temperatures away from direct sunlight (0 – 8℃).
WHAT IS IT USED FOR?
Silhouette Soft is used as a non-surgical, minimally-invasive lifting device for patients suffering from sagging skin. The suture helps to lift and tighten wrinkled skin while the bidirectional cones hold the suture in place. The problem areas that can be corrected using this innovative dermal device are the eyebrows, cheeks and midface, jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and the neck. Your patients will notice tauter skin almost immediately. This procedure is also known as a “thread lift,” “one-stitch facelift” or “puppet facelift.”
HOW DOES THIS THREAD LIFT WORK?
There are a number of components that work to maintain the structural integrity and functionality of the skin cells, including collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Collagen forms the secure scaffolding that other functional components bind in order to provide elasticity and hydration. Internal and external ageing of the skin cells contribute to the diminished quantity and performance of collagen, and skin becomes lax. Wrinkles and sagging skin make the face look exhausted and haggard. Silhouette Soft is an innovative and minimally-invasive solution to these problems. The suture is made of a biocompatible and biodegradable PLLA polymer, on which bidirectional cones are attached. These cones are made using lactide glycolide, a mixture of lactic acid and glycolic acids in an 82:18 ratio.
- The PLLA suture provides 2 main functions: lifting and regeneration. Once placed under the skin, the sagging area is lifted by gently compressing and lifting the tissue. In addition, the suture stimulates collagen production, leading to a longer lasting effect. As a result, a new network of collagen is left behind to provide structure and volume, even as the suture is absorbed.
- The cones provide traction points, so as to anchor the sutures securely to the tissues. This means there is a lower risk of product migration or extrusion.
These 2 elements lift sagging skin, so that your patients will look and feel younger and rejuvenated.
HOW TO USE IT?
Silhouette Soft is a medical device and should only be used by licensed medical professionals specializing in aesthetic treatments. Prior to treatment, you must conduct a thorough facial assessment to determine the entry and exit points of the sutures for the best effect. After disinfecting the areas, puncture the entry point using the attached needle, and then insert the suture into the subcutaneous layer of the skin. Once the needle is inserted to the appropriate depth, withdraw the needle through the first exit point. Once the suture is entirely within the skin, cut off the needle while leaving a piece of the suture exposed. Repeat for each suture. Apply gentle pressure while pinching the skin and use these exposed ends of the suture in order for the cones to attach to the tissue. Trim off and discard the excess suture material. The entire process can be completed in just 30 minutes, after which your patients can continue with their usual activities.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Silhouette Soft is made of PLLA polymer, which is famed for its long-lasting performance. Your patients can enjoy the lifting properties of this aesthetic device from 18 months up to 2 years.
IS THIS PRODUCT SAFE?
Yes, Silhouette Soft is a very safe medical device that can be used to redefine the facial outline and contour without surgery. However, since the materials used are synthetic, some individuals are advised to avoid it, and this includes:
- Children below 18 years of age;
- Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers;
- Patients who are allergic to any of the ingredients;
- Patients with any dermal issues (e.g. injuries, infections, or inflammation)
- Patients with an autoimmune disease.
Adults above the age of 30 exhibiting good skin structure support can use this lifting solution. Individuals with severe skin sagging may not be good candidates.
SILHOUETTE SOFT SIDE EFFECTS
Since Silhouette Soft is a non-surgical treatment, the downtime is short. However, your patients may notice some common initial reactions associated with implantation of the suture.
COMMON SIDE EFFECTS:
- Pain and tenderness
- Slight bruising
- Redness
- Edema (swelling)
- Slight depressions at the entry points of suture
These reactions should clear up within a few days. There have also been some more serious reactions that have been reported, though these are rare.
RARE SIDE EFFECTS:
- Infections
- Nerve damage
As part of post-treatment care, inform your patients to apply an ice pack to reduce any swelling. They should keep their face free of makeup for up to a day after the treatment and perform their regular skincare regimen (e.g. cleansing, drying, shaving) very gently for 5 days. They should also sleep with their head elevated and face up for the first 5 nights after treatment. Advise patients to avoid extreme temperature conditions (e.g. sauna, tanning sessions, and direct harsh sunlight), other dermal procedures, face and/or neck massages, and high impact sports (e.g. running) for a few weeks following the procedure. Excessive face and neck movements should also be minimized for a couple of weeks too. All these steps will ensure that recovery is quick and that the effects are long-lasting.
