WHAT IS PRINCESS?

Princess is a range of synthetic dermal fillers designed and manufactured by an Austrian pharmaceutical company, Croma Pharma. Its active ingredient is non-animal cross-linked hyaluronic acid processed to be a monophasic gel which can easily integrate into collapsed skin structures to help plump and lift facial creases.

THERE ARE 3 FILLERS IN THIS RANGE:

1. Rich: This soft tissue implant consists of 18mg/mL of sodium hyaluronate integrated with 20mg/mL of glycerol. Each box comes with a single 1mL preloaded syringe, 2-30G½” disposable needles and instruction manual.
2. Filler: This aesthetic implant consists of 23mg/mL of cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel packaged in a 1mL syringe. Each box comes with a single preloaded syringe, 2-27G½” disposable needles and instruction manual. This filler also comes with lidocaine for better comfort during procedure.
3. Volume: This dermal implant consists of 23mg/mL of highly cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel packaged in a 1mL syringe. Each box comes with a single preloaded syringe, 2-27G ½” disposable needles and instruction manual.

The packaged gel is sterile, transparent, homogenized, viscoelastic and biodegradable that is isotonic to the human tissues. Croma Pharma also designed skincare products, mainly face masks which are Skincare Green Tea Mask and Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Mask. The former is rich in green tea extract, algae extract, aloe vera juice and cucumber extract; while the latter is laden with hyaluronic acid, glycerin, algae and grass root extract. The masks are ideal for rehydrating and calming dry sensitive skin, especially post-aesthetic treatment. All the products have sterile packaging and must be stored away from sunlight, heat and frost at temperature ranging between 2℃ and 25℃.

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

These fillers are intended to correct skin imperfections of varying degrees seamlessly, including dry skin, marionette lines, glabellar lines, and lip augmentation. Volume is also intended to restore lost volume in certain areas of the face, such as the cheeks and temples.
The Green Tea Mask and Hyaluronic Acid Mask are used to soothe and hydrate dry, sensitive skin. It also delivers effective antioxidant actions and protect the skin from free radical damage.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The active constituent, hyaluronic acid has been derived biotechnologically and processed using Supreme Monophasic and Reticulated Technology (SMART) into 3-dimensional matrix of hyaluronic acid. The resulting monophasic gel is very viscoelastic and is capable of withstanding degradation once injected into the skin. Besides replenishing moisture in parched skin areas, hyaluronic acid also boosts existing collagen production leaving a firmer skin in the long run. Princess Rich has been integrated with glycerol, a powerful humectant which locks the moisture from the surrounding into the skin so that it stays hydrated. As for the Green Tea Mask, it is rich in green tea extract just as the name suggests. Green tea contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a strong antioxidant capable of repairing inflamed skin. The aloe leaf juice extract also promotes skin repair by boosting cell renewal process. The Hyaluronic Acid Mask delivers and binds moisture to parched skin due to the presence of hyaluronic acid and glycerin. Skin then appears hydrated, revitalised and soft.

HOW TO USE

Just like any other medical procedure, Princess implant injections can only be done after a thorough medical review. The initial consultation session is also great for discussing the patient’s treatment expectations as well as possible side effects faced. Once they are deemed suitable, set a date and advise patients to cease consuming blood-thinning medications or supplements (e.g. warfarin, aspirin, fish oil, ginkgo biloba) to reduce risk of bleeding during procedure.
It is paramount that the entire procedure is conducted aseptically. So, please ensure that the filler’s sterile packaging is intact and within its shelf life. Also, disinfect the proposed treatment carefully and assemble the medical device in accordance to the illustrations on the manual. The injection depth and techniques depend on the severity of skin condition and amount of gel used:

• Rich: Administer the biorevitalisation implant into the upper layer of affected skin regions. Repeat injections every 2 or 3 weeks for a total of at least 3 treatments for maximum performance.
• Princess Filler: Administer the filler into the mid or deep dermis layer of wrinkles. You can also inject it into the lips or on the vermilion border to enhance the shape and size.
• Volume: Administer the volumising implant into the deeper layer of problematic skin regions.

Once adequate correction has been done, you may gently massage the treated areas to promote better gel integration with tissues. The usage directions for the masks are quite straightforward. Patients should apply the mask on cleansed and dried face for only 15 minutes. Afterwards, massage the remaining solution into face and neck for better absorption. Refer to instruction manual for more directions for usage.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

The residence time and duration of effects vary on an individual basis according to patients’ age, severity of skin condition as well as lifestyle habits. Rich can provide glowing rejuvenating effects for up to a quarter of a year while Princess Filler can perform for up to 6 to 10 months. Finally, Volume is able to volumise skin depressions for approximately 8 to 12 months. Since the filler material is fully bioresorbable, it will be completely broken down and absorbed into the neighbouring tissues.

IS THIS PRODUCT SAFE?

Yes, Princess products are famed for their quality and safety. The raw materials are obtained from sources approved by stringent quality checks. In addition, the fillers are thoroughly purified to remove any contaminants. Hence, the risk for infections or rejection reactions is very low and patients can receive treatment with these fillers confidently. However, some circumstances still require contraindications due to untested safety levels:

• Circumstances where patients are pregnant or breastfeeding;
• Circumstances where patients are underage (below 18 years old);
• Circumstances where patients are suffering from autoimmune disorders;
• Circumstances where patients are on immunomodulatory drugs;
• Circumstances where patients are suffering from dermal disorders (e.g. acne, hives, herpes, hypertrophic scarring);
• Circumstances where patients are allergic to any of the ingredients (e.g. green tea extract, aloe leaf juice etc.).

PRINCESS SIDE EFFECTS

Patients may experience some localised inflammatory reactions on injected areas.

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS:

• Tenderness
• Redness
• Bruising
• Swelling which can cause itchiness

Inform your patients that these side effects are very mild in nature and should subside within a week. Patients should keep the treated areas makeup free for at least 12 hours following treatment. They should also protect the treated areas from conditions with extreme temperatures, such as excessive sunlight, tanning beds, sauna, hammam sessions, and cold rooms for at least a week post-procedure. However, some patients can even experience more serious reactions.

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS:

• Bleeding from the injection sites
• Blood clots at injected sites
• Hardening of injected sites
• Lumps

These reactions usually appear immediately or delayed for a few days after treatment. Nevertheless, they should resolve within a week. As for the masks, patients may experience skin irritation if it is left on the skin longer than the stipulated time period. If any of the reactions last longer than the stipulated time, patients must get immediate medical help. Refer to instruction manual for more side effects.
