What is Belotero?

Belotero is a range of monophasic temporary dermal fillers made of non-animal cross-linked hyaluronic acid manufactured by Merz Pharmaceuticals. The hyaluronic acid molecules are derived via biofermentation and later reticulated with using the Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM) and Dynamic Cross-Linking Technology (DCLT). The resulting implant is very viscoelastic, tissue-friendly, and completely biodegradable. The fillers in this collection have varying hyaluronic acid concentrations to correct many dermal fallibilities.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a brand of biphasic soft tissue fillers made of non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid (NASHA) and is produced by Q-Med. Hyaluronic acid molecules are derived through a biofermentation process and processed to suspend homogenously in a gel carrier. There is a wide range of injectable implants by this brand that can be used to treat various aesthetic concerns, from plumping thin lips to restoring facial volume in sunken areas.

Similarities and differences between Belotero Vs. Restylane

Similarities

These 2 brands are similar when it comes to the filler material. Both collections are composed of non-animal hyaluronic acid derived from fermented bacterial cultures. Hyaluronic acid is a complex carbohydrate that exist naturally in the human body to deliver moisture. Once injected with hyaluronic acid-based fillers, aesthetic concerns are almost instantly corrected. Besides that, these 2 brands are highly purified and processed to be completely apyrogenic and biodegradable. However, the fillers can only provide temporary skin improvements as they will be metabolised gradually.

Differences

The biggest difference lies in the texture of filler material. While monophasic Belotero is made of tightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, Restylane consists of hyaluronic acid particles uniformly suspended in a carrier gel. Besides that, the injection technique for both the brands may differ depending on the severity of skin conditions.
